SMART's goal is to EMPOWER...to offer opportunities to cultivate internal & external environments and experiences of strength, knowledge & wellness for youth, parents, and communities.

from a small parent-based coalition to a well-regarded, viable community organization & resource with a systematic, ever-evolving approach to its mission, to meet the needs of today's youth and the communities.

Through our outreach programs, SMART has continuously branded itself as a community mainstay and strives to empower the communities of Southbury & Middlebury, CT and beyond.

Local Prevention Council

The Local Prevention Council [LPC] serves Region 15 & is comprised of key stakeholders in the Middlebury & Southbury communities. The overall goals of the LPC are to increase public awareness about the prevention of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs of abuse, to identify and help remove the barriers to the healthy and successful development of our young people, and to contribute to creating and maintaining a safe community and school environment.

Parent Support

We know that positive change is rooted in education. Our parent support workshops are free & scheduled throughout the academic year. They are designed to teach parents, caregivers and people in positions of influence about various parenting-based topics. These topics focus on prevention, education and intervention with the overarching goal of strengthening individuals, families and communities by building assets in our children and adults.

Community & School Resource

SMART, Inc. recognizes that in order to affect systemic change “It takes a village”. With this in mind our organization facilitates, sponsors, and/or collaborates with other organizations on initiatives and information dissemination that encourage and enable individuals and families to participate in enriching, educational, informative activities and opportunities. These opportunities occur within the community and school settings.
