  • supplemental food and nutrition programs
  • shelter and housing options and utilities assistance
  • emergency information and disaster relief
  • employment and education opportunities
  • services for veterans
  • health care, vaccination and health epidemic information
  • addiction prevention and rehabilitation programs
  • reentry help for ex-offenders
  • support groups for individuals with mental illnesses or special needs
  • a safe, confidential path out of physical and/or emotional domestic abuse

Opioid addiction, the state has made available a single phone number residents can call to be connected with a local substance abuse walk-in assessment center.

1-800-563-4086. People who call it from within the state will be directed to a nearby walk-in assessment center and will receive a follow-up phone call from trained staff to see if they were able to connect to needed services and, if not, address any barriers they faced, according to the state Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. People can call 24 hours a day.
